Our divinely smoky guaiacol, from the United States, is a natural isolate that is extracted from orange leaves. With back notes of smoked vanilla and spice, it reminds me a bit of a beautiful lapsang souchong tea note. This base note is light in texture and lasts a very long time. But magically too, the guaiacol also floats up lending a curl of smoke to the opening of a perfume.
