One-of-a-kind sterling antique patch box featuring deeply-embossed lily flower and its gorgeous leaves. It appears to be handmade. Encircling the sides of the case is an embossed wave pattern and on the bottom is a beautiful antique script monogram. Mirror in great shape and encircled with gold beading. There is a sterling hallmark on the top inside rim and gold vermeil inside the case. It is 1.5 inches across, and the price includes 1/4 oz (8 ml) solid perfume of your choice. Has ring which allows it to be worn as a locket. Patch boxes came into use during the 18th century at the court of Louis XV, where the use of "beauty patches" was popular. A beauty patch was made of gummed silk and was pasted on the skin as a "beauty mark" to emphasize a woman's facial feature, usually the cheek.
