Exquisite: One-of-a-kind signed Frainier embossed Art Nouveau antique French silver patch box circa 1900. On the front of the case we see a musician leaning against a tree playing the lute in a picturesque detailed scene of plants and trees with a river and mountains in the background. The back and sides are decorated with a finely embossed pattern of branches, buds, and leaves. A rich almost fingerprint texture decorates the entire surface of the box. The original concave magnifying mirror in the shows some minor aging and is surrounded by gilded rope edging. Has a ring which allows it to be worn as a locket and the inside of the box is covered in a vermeil. The box is 1.7 inches across, and the price includes 1/4 oz (8 ml) solid perfume of your choice.
The "Frainier" hallmark is hand engraved on the back of the case along with and a second hallmark. Frainier's execution of boxes was of superlative quality which is evident in the extraordinary workmanship on this elegant and singular piece. Frainier's success was immense but he choose to work by hand and remain small, and could not meet the worldwide demand for his work!
