Museum Quality: Superb repoussé antique sterling snuff box depicting 2 griffins by famed French goldsmith Charles Murat circa 1900. The griffin, which stands for divine love and heavenly protection, has the head and body of a lion, a serpent's tail and the wings of an eagle. Just below the creature is a shield-like cartouche. On the back of the box, there is a beautiful portrait of the griffin's impressive head and flowers and decorations encircling him. Superlative, ornate and complex repoussé decorations adorn both the front and back of the box. The interior of the box has a gold vermeil wash and thee are 3 hallmarks on the rim. Measures 1.4 inches by 1. inches, and the price includes 1/6 oz (5 ml) solid perfume of your choice.
